My name is Marc Jones and I am the founder of Coaching Carrots. I am a passionate individual who loves helping people to achieve and to get results. My background is in Senior Management and I have extensive knowledge within the health and fitness industry.
I have a degree from the University of Surrey along with a Diploma in NLP and I am a Certified NLP Practitioner with Timeline Coaching. I am also a qualified Personal Trainer.
I have a history of developing systems and processes that help people get results and have a keen interest in behavioural change, motivation and coaching.
I love spending time with my wife and daughter, am a keen football player/fan and am very passionate about my work.
I have been involved in coaching for over 4 years now, coaching has helped me to progress my career and to achieve my goals and ambitions. Coaching was also useful for me when we had our little girl. My relationship goals were about just two of us, about travelling – seeing the world and material aspects such as cars and luxurious hotels. Once our daughter came into the world all of this was turned upside down and it took me a while to adjust. Coaching helped me to plan through the early stages of parenthood and to cope better with these huge changes.
I have not eaten carrots since the age of 5. There was an event at school which helped to create a negative belief about them and from that moment on I would not touch them. If my mum dished up our food using the same spoon as the carrots I knew and would refuse to eat the whole meal.
Over the many years since this event I have come across the challenge of carrots on many occasions. Carrots are everywhere and are hidden in things that you wouldn’t expect. Shopping trips would take longer because I had to check the ingredients, I wouldn’t buy certain foods on the internet because I would not be able to check the ingredients. When I went to friend’s house for dinner I had to supervise the cooking to make sure there were NO CARROTS – carrots were dictating my life.
I used coaching and NLP techniques to over come the beliefs and wipe out the anchors I had associated over 30 years to carrots. At Christmas 2009 I had slow roasted honey glazed carrots with chilli with my dinner and every roast dinner since.
I was recently connected to an old friend via Facebook and the first question she asked me was "are you still not eating carrots?" – it had become part of my identity – of who I was!
After 30 years I had managed to change one of the fundamental parts of me – this is the power of coaching.
Carrots also have some cross over connotations with Coaching,
The carrot or the stick – motivation
Carrots are deep rooted – so are some of your beliefs and issues
Carrots grow quickly – people who have coaching grow more quickly than those who do not
Carrots help you see in the dark – coaching helps you to see things more clearly and from different perspectives
